HADJICHRISTOU, ATHANASIA On September 9 2016, after a long and most heroic battle with cancer, our beloved Athanasia died peacefully at east York general with her family by her side. Athanasia died the way she lived, with immense courage, strength, pride and beauty. She will be profoundly missed by the family and many friends she leaves behind. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Christos. Much loved mother of Theodora and Georgia. Adored mother in law of Craig and Mike. Devoted daughter of Georgia and the late John Stratigakis, dear sister of Peter and Effie. Cherished grandmother of Christopher, Sophia, Nicholas and Johnny. Athanasia was a brilliant, compassionate, graceful and principled woman of countless creative talents who inspired the many people whose lives she touched. She had a great gift for friendship and her love, selfless warmth and sense of humour brought joy and comfort to us all. Athanasia's family will receive friends at HERITAGE FUNERAL CENTRE, 50 Overlea Blvd. (416) 423-1000 on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-9 pm. A funeral service will be held in St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church at 10 am on Thursday, September 15, 2016. Interment to follow at Pine Hills Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Athanasia are asked to consider the Canadian Cancer Society or Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.
