Obituary

The family announces with sorrow his death on Saturday February 13, 2016 at the Timmins and District Hospital at the age of 88 years. Survived by his wife Réjeanne (Reggie) Collins, his children Keith (Lynda) Collins, Donna Collins, Karen (Steve) Kosowan and Natalie (Luc) Levasseur; the mother of his children Vuokko (Vi) Luhtanen; his grandchildren Shannon (Corey) Kelly, Tamara (Shawn) Smith, Garrett Kosowan, Allina (Sam) Bouvier, Ariane Levasseur (Miko Gervais) and Annie Levasseur (Amanda Bernotas) and by his great-grandchildren Milo and Sloan Kelly. He will also be sadly missed by his in-laws Carol Collins, Rene Collins, Clauviette Théroux (late Gerry), Laurette Fedor (late Eddy), Louise and John Boissonneault, Pauline and Aurel Carrière and Irène and Yvon Daviault, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Nellie and Roswell Collins, his brothers Harman, Merlin, Vernon and Ross and by his sisters Mable, Marion, Dorothy, Merle and Helen. Don was a founding member of the Spruce Needles Golf Club, a member of the Porcupine Dante Club, the Moneta Rec and the Lions Club. He started his own business in 1949 as a dental technician and established his denturist business in 1974. For a total of 74 years, Don was a practicing member of his profession until April 2015. He also served 10 years as a City Councillor with the Town of Timmins which amalgamated to the City of Timmins during his term. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1pm to 3 pm at LESSARD-STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME. A celebration of his life will follow at 3pm in the chapel followed by a reception at the Lessard-Stephens Reception Centre. Remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation will be greatly appreciated
