In loving memory of Lawrence “Larry” Gies, 74 years Passed away on Sunday, September 25th, 2016 at Extendicare Falconbridge. Beloved father of Doug Gies (Beth). Dear son of Leo and Lillian Gies both predeceased. Cherished brother of Barbara Levesque (Rheaume), Sally Beute (Harry predeceased), John (Cecile), Emma Goedhuis (Dan predeceased), Linda Ouellette (Claude), Noella Latimer, Jim (Diane) and predeceased by Leo, William and Deanna. Sadly missed by his godson Dave Latimer and well loved by many nieces, nephews and friends. Larry worked for Bell Canada and Levert Electric before getting on with Sudbury Hydro for whom he worked for 33 years before retiring. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, carpentry, bingo and especially horseshoes at the yearly family reunion where he donated the trophy and had his name on it most years. Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial prayers under the auspices of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76 Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass at Holy Redeemer Church, 1887 Bancroft Dr, Sudbury On Friday, September 30th, 2016 at 11 a.m. Cremation at Park Lawn Crematorium. Memorial donations to the Parkinson’s Society would be appreciated.
