William "Bill" Tice Newmarket Obituary

William "Bill" Tice

TICE, William “Bill” George, passed away peacefully with family by his side at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario, on Friday, August 19, 2016 in his 82nd year. Loving husband of Norma (nee MacIver) for over 60 years. Beloved father of Mary (Mike), Sheila (Chris), and Judi (Barry). Proud and beloved Poppa of Michael William Tice, Erin, Olivia, Emily, and Quinton. A favourite Uncle to many special nieces and nephews. He was looked upon as a father figure and mentor by many, including David and Donald who thought of him as a father for over 20 years. Younger brother of the late Florence MacKay (Lloyd), Dorothy Hardwick (Gerry), and Marion Tucker (William). Brother-in-Law to Mary and Clyde Armstrong. Beloved Son of the late Florence and William Tice. Bill was born and raised in East York (Toronto) where as a young man, he began his 42 year career as a printer at Nor Baker Industries. He met his loving wife Norma at a New Year’s Eve Party in 1953 and since that day, they were by each other’s side, raising three daughters and riding the waves of life for over 60 years. He was “naturally good” at anything he undertook. He took pride in crafting many a wood project, played a variety of sports most notably, golf, bowling, darts and baseball, and would always welcome a "good game of cards". He loved his movies, especially the old westerns and war epics. He bravely accepted life’s health challenges with a “laissez faire” attitude always searching for gadgets or technology to assist him with his hobbies. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Dr. Linda Douville and Liz, Robert Lees of the CCAC and the many other health care providers who were involved in Bill’s health care for the past several years. Family and Friends may call at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street South, Newmarket, Ontario on Monday, August 22, 2016 at 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral Service in the Chapel will commence at 1:00 pm. Reception and Celebration of Bill's life will follow at the Newmarket Legion, 707 Srigley Street, Newmarket, Ontario. If desired, donations may be made to the CNIB. On-line condolences can be made at www.roadhouseandrose.com.
