Peacefully, in the Palliative Care Unit at Southlake Regional Health Center in Newmarket, on August 19, 2016 Muriel passed away in her 102nd year. Loving wife of Ken (deceased). Loving mother of Keith (Edie), Joanne (deceased) (Michael Kearns). Loving and beloved grandmother of Niall (Lisa), Andrew (Mindy), and great grandmother of Ryan and Nathan. Muriel will be missed by her remaining sister Ruth (Elton Hutchinson), and by her long time friend and “second son” Gord McGuire. Her family thanks the Palliative Care Unit at Southlake Regional Health Centre, the caring staff who became part of her family at Kingsway Arms Retirement Centre in Aurora over the past 8 years, Gladys Kearns for her loving kindness, Dr. Windsor, Dr. Soto and Dr. Gupta for her many years of good health, and the many friends and family who gave quality to her long years. Thanks also to the York EMS ambulance service for the many “limo” rides to Southlake that Muriel required in the final year of her life. Visitation will be the evening of August 23 from 7:00 -9:00 p.m. at Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street South in Newmarket. Services will be held on August 24 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sharon Hope United Church, 18648 Leslie Street in Sharon Ontario, followed by refreshments at the church.
