Mary, born in Syracuse, NY, lived in Baldwinsville, NY, California, Utah, and Montreal, QC, before finally settling in Bradford, ON. She was a kind and generous person who loved life. She showed her love of others through her actions, whether it was by following a friend’s blog, teaching kindness for the sake of kindness, encouraging others to be the nerds they are, sharing an interesting article, cooking a good meal, or carving a face into an apple to make it special. Mary’s final message to her American family and friends was, “Don’t vote Trump.” She will be missed. Daughter of the late Donald Hester and Thelma E. Hester, Mary is survived by her beloved husband, Brian; daughters Hester and Ayr; grandchildren Zachary, Patrick, Elizabeth and Bridget; brother Robert (Kikie); and nephew Jimmy. A Celebration of life will be held at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. S., Newmarket on Saturday August 20th from 1-3 p.m. The family would like to thank Southlake Regional Health Centre for the incredible care they provided throughout Mary’s battle with pancreatic cancer and at the end of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre or the palliative care ward of Southlake Regional Health Centre online at www.roadhouseandrose.com.
