Doris (Gidget) Ashton (née Cooper) – Born January 5, 1946 Dunrobin, Scotland; Passed July 10, 2016 Peterborough, Ontario – It is with great sadness that the family of the late Doris Ashton (formerly of Deer Lake, Newfoundland; St. Albert, Alberta; and Brampton, Ontario) announce her passing on July 10, 2016 at Peterborough Regional Hospital in her seventieth year after a short illness. She leaves to mourn with loving memories her husband David, and sons; Trevor (Emma) of Brampton, Ontario and Jason (Brenda) of Cookstown, Ontario, sisters; Yvonne (Roy) Whalen, Sandra (Jerome) Fitzgerald, Audrey (Terry) Bennett, all of Deer Lake, Newfoundland, Donna Pilgrim (Dwayne) of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Doreen (George) Dunn of Tain, Scotland, and brother Ian (Louise) Sutherland of Burnley, England. Also her precious grandson Teague and step grandsons Evan and Ethan. She was predeceased by her parents Douglas and Elizabeth Cooper and her brother Dean. Also leaving to mourn nieces and nephews, other relations and friends. Many thanks to the Doctors & Nurses at the Lindsay & Peterborough Hospitals ICU Departments in her last days. At Doris’s wishes Cremation has taken place.
