Ruth Stuart

STUART, Ruth Ann Passed away peacefully, on August 12, 2016, at Hamilton General Hospital, surrounded by family, at the age of 52. Beloved daughter of Edward and Ethel Stuart; loving sister to David (Doris) Stuart. Born and raised in Wallaceburg, Ontario, she was a proud graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University (BA-English Literature). A gifted professional fantasy and science fiction author, she was an active and popular member in the speculative fiction community. Always ready with a supportive hug and a wry comment, her warm smile and infectious giggle will be missed. Ruth’s family wishes to thank the Health Teams at St. Mary’s Hospital and Hamilton General Hospital for their compassion in making Ruth as comfortable as possible in her final days. The family also thanks Ruth’s many friends who provided company and support while in the hospital. Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are welcome at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener (519-749-8467) on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m., and a celebration of her life at 4 p.m., in the chapel. As per Ruth’s wishes, attendees are encouraged to wear bright, happy colours. In lieu of flowers, Ruth and her family suggest donations to Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders Canada, The Terry Fox Foundation, USC Canada’s Seeds of Survival program, Canadian Cancer Society, The Mark Preece Family House or Sunnybrook Hospital’s Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research (cards available at the funeral home).
