Kenneth Bedford Obituary

Bedford, Kenneth With a grateful heart and profound sadness, I announce that Ken has passed on to the next part of this life journey. Although I think he was reluctant to leave his loved ones behind, he accepted his final breath with grace. He leaves behind his favorite and only daughter Penny with a full heart, a lifelong mentor and many wonderful memories. Also he leaves behind, his younger sister Shirley (Norm) Annettes of Kincardine; nephews and nieces who adored their Uncle Ken: Stephen & Judy Green; Ann & Tim Nash of Peterbourgh, Kim, Cyndi & Kevin; Jeff and Wade, Tommy and Patty of Guelph. Ken has joined his family members who have gone before him to get the party started. And what a party I am sure it is! He has joined his wife of 50 years Norma Green who I am sure is pleased to have him beside her again. His parents Edythe and Thomas Bedford (Guelph): his beloved sister June, her husband Ed and his baby brother Bobby and wife Marjorie. Also at the party are Jack and Betty Green (brother and sister in law). Nephews Bryan, Craig and Jo (Reed) are watching over the party goers making sure they are ok. I can almost hear their laughter ringing as the rain falls. Ken also leaves behind with the joy of his friendship Tommy; John and Jay and his corner store buddies. Also he leaves his beer drinkin buddy Charla alone on Thursday evenings at TWB. Ken worked at Zehrs for 22 years as a produce manager at a variety of store locations. After his retirement he took care of Norma, visited with friends, gambled a bit and helped Penny. Dad taught me about compassion, patience, the names of screw drivers and how to count in cribbage. Dad made the world a better place by his honest, quiet patience, his wit and his kindness. He always had a smile and a laugh for everyone he met. He will be sorrowfully missed. Ken's family and friends will remember him on Sunday 2-3:45 p.m. for a visitation and the memorial service will follow at 4 p.m at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Private cremation has taken place. As expressions of condolence, donations to a charity of your choice or the Food Bank would be appreciated. Cards available at the funeral home. And special thanks go to many. To Dr Jagas thank you and his favorite Nurse Karen- he loved your banter and wit! To the first responders and paramedics, thank you for your timely interventions and kindness. To SMGH Emerg. dept. Nurses and Drs your comfort, warm blankets and leg cramp tips so helpful, thank you! And to Drs Jackson "he was a grand man" and Langridge for your honest, kind attention to dad and myself. Also to the entire 6th floor RNs and staff who daily supported dad, thank you! Finally to Laura his last care nurse - thank you for your compassionate care in my dad's last hours. "There are strange things done, in the midnight sun, by the men who moil for gold."
