Adlys, Edward John "E.J." "I did it my way" Died peacefully on Friday July 22, 2016 at Grand River Hospital in his 80th year. Soulmate and best friend of Denise Fischer for 38 years. Father to Tony (Lisa Callahan). Grandfather to Mary and Christopher. Son-in-law of Betty Fischer. Survived by sister Brenda (Hugh) Rutledge, sister-in-law Karen (Dave) Ostrander and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents John Adlys and Amelia (Sadkowski), siblings Mary (Ernie) Trottier, Anne (Jim) Goddard, Jenny Moore, Walter Adlys and Bernie Adlys. Growing up in Toronto, Ed moved to Waterloo in 1953 when his father purchased the Kent (today's Huether) and City Hotels. Ed worked at the Kent before pursuing a career in finance, becoming District Manager of C.A.C. In 1980, Ed and Denise opened EJ's Hideout in Hespeler, the areas first sport's bar. In 1990, Ed brought karaoke to Baden at EJ's @ Baden. Retiring in 1993, Ed and Denise enjoyed their home in Florida and travelling to 80 countries. The highlight of Ed's travels was finding and meeting his first cousins in Lithuania. Following Ed's wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Hospital for Cardiac Care or McMaster University for ALS Research (cards available at Henry Walser Funeral Home 519-749-8467).
