Stanley Buda Collingwood, Ontario Obituary

Stanley Buda

STANLEY DANIEL BUDA December 9, 1937 – July 2, 2016 With a heavy heart, the family of Stan Buda announces his passing on into the arms of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on July 2 at home in Creemore, Ontario. Stan is predeceased by his father Ludwig Buda and mother, Mary Buda and her mother Mary Vajcik, and his precious 13 year old daughter Wendy. He is survived by his wife Jody Bowle-Evans, his son Michael (and his wife Dawn Grigor) and grandchildren Matthew and Mavis, brother John (and partner Gail) and sister-in-law Wendy Bowle-Evans. Stan had suffered many health issues over the past ten years. He struggled through largely due to the hands-on support of his wife and best friend Jody (Dr. Bowle-Evans). Stan’s early background can best be summarized as lousy academically and better than average athletically. His two loves were hockey and baseball. His hockey career included playing with the 1956 Memorial Cup winning Toronto Marlboros, and the Peterboro Petes. As a baseball pitcher Stan attended minor league camps held by the Philadelphia Phillies and St Louis Cardinals. At this point, Stan reached a cross roads that took him back to school. He attended Ryerson where advertising really caught his attention. In 1961 he got his first job in the advertising agency business, where he spent 37 years (including 3 years in New York City), ending up as CEO of Bates Canada. Following the death of his daughter, Stan turned his life to Jesus Christ in October 1993. His faith and belief in his Lord had steadily increased. A special thanks to Dr. Scott Houston, the renal dialysis team at Collingwood General & Marine Hospital, Saint Elizabeth Nurses, his devoted Red Cross driver and brother in Christ Pastor John Wong, and our bible study group led by Rev. Ray Dobson for all the care and support they provided over these last months. A funeral service in Stan’s honour will be held at All Saints’ Anglican Church, Collingwood, on Saturday August, 20 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider making a donation to the Red Cross.
