Margaret 'Babs' Garner

MARGARET JANE “BABS” GARNER, 65, of Collingwood, Ontario passed away peacefully on June 29th, 2016 at Toronto General Hospital. Born May 4, 1951, in Aberdeen, Scotland and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1953 to Toronto and raised in East York. Married in 1973 and moved to Collingwood, her home for the remainder of her life. After staying home to raise her children, she worked as an endeared teacher at Oxbow Park, Worsley Elementary, and Admiral Collingwood public schools. She retired in 2011 and enjoyed travelling with her family and friends, and loved looking after her granddaughter whom she adored greatly. Survived by Richard Garner, her devoted husband of 43 years, son Aaron Garner (Heather), and granddaughter Lauren of Collingwood, brother Donald (Pam) and sister Joyce (Iain). Loved by her many nieces, nephews and cousins in the Garner and Sinclair clans. Dearly missed by friend Janne Doner and in-laws John and Susan LeFeuvre. Predeceased by her parents Harold and Margaret Sinclair and daughter Ruth. Margaret’s many friends, colleagues and students will miss her deeply. She was recognized as a kind, sweet, sincerely caring person who made a difference in the many lives she touched. She will rest beside her parents in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Collingwood. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation or Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Princess Margaret Hospital - Stem Cell Transplant and Research, the Royal Victoria Hospital, Toronto General Hospital and Collingwood General & Marine Hospital.
