With sadness yet great joy we announce Johanna VanderSpek has gone to her eternal home with her precious Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. In her 81st year, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Johanna passed away peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on June 14, 2016. She is survived by her faithful and loving husband of 61 years, John VanderSpek, their eleven children Paul (Barb), Gay (Kevin), Louise (Doug), Aleda (Tim), Rose, Elizabeth (George), Marianne (Steve), Teresa (Sid), Tim (Trish), Ed (Wendy) and Melodie (Dave), 36 grandchildren and 14 (and counting) great grandchildren. Johanna was born in Pijnacker, Netherlands and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1949. She was dedicated first and foremost to loving and serving Jesus, followed closely by loving and serving her family. Her greatest joy was cherishing time with her family. Johanna often excitedly prepared gifts for special occasions and countless delicious home cooked meals. She enjoyed needle crafts and the outdoors, especially her beautiful flower gardens. Johanna’s mission in life was “to cheer and to guide”. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Assembly’s World Missions. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm at Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Blvd., Cambridge. Funeral Service will take place at Calvary Assembly, 127 Hespeler Rd., Cambridge, on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 11 am with visitation beginning at 9 am. Interment at Parklawn Cemetery at 2 pm.
