Husband, father, grandfather, brother ,friend and Physician

The Bhatt family sadly announces the peaceful passing of their loving husband and father Gun Bhatt. Cherished husband of Nilu and beloved father of Neil ( Priyanka), Nikhil (Meera) and Vijay (Tiffany). Doting grandfather of Nalina, Jasmine and Shaunak. Predeceased by his brother Amir Nazerali and brother in law Chiman Joshi.

Born in Nairobi Kenya, Gun left for the United Kingdom at a young age to pursue education that would enable him to embark on a distinguished career in medicine that would span almost 50 years. If you were lucky enough to have met him, you would never forget him. This is because he was larger than life. Dad had the gift to leave anyone he met feeling better about themselves. Dad's passions in life were the practice of medicine, family and friends, and his never ending quest to find a good value red wine

Known universally as a caring, compassionate and dedicated general practitioner, Dad's greatest pleasure was the well being of his patients whether in the hospitals, nursing homes, industrial plants and his Prescott office. When we were able to pry him away from his work, Dad enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren on the St Lawrence River. For many years, you could also find him at 6AM on the tennis courts of the Brockville General Hospital and the Prescott Tennis Club. One of his greatest achievements was visiting center court of the four major events that constitute the tennis Grand Slam.

Anyone that knew Gun, knows that they will miss this wonderful and unique gentleman. A man of class and character, his quiet and powerful presence was always the source of comfort and strength. Gun benevolently and lovingly cared for and about many people in many ways. He was extremely generous in creating opportunities for those in need. He will be dearly missed.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Memorial Chapel at Roselawn, 2451 County Road 15, Maitland on Friday August 26th from 5pm until 8pm. A ceremony celebrating Gun's life will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers the Bhatt family respectfully ask that a donation be made to the Brockville General Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Unit. Send condolences, place a donation, light a memory candle or share a special thought of Gun online at www.irvinememorial.com.
