John Francis MacDonell

Peacefully at the Maxville Manor in Maxville, Ontario at the age of 94. Beloved husband of Phyllis (Hughie Phil MacDonald) for 56 years. Born in Greenfield, Ontario then later of Apple Hill and Cornwall. John served in WW II then worked many years in the Civil Service. He lived life to the full, with travel, golfing and curling among his many interests. Survived by siblings Charlie, Angus (Leona), and Jerome (Ruth), he is predeceased by his parents, Mary and John and siblings Dorothy, Evelyn, Eileen, Inez, Doreen and Donald. John's happy nature and singing will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Heartfelt thanks to the excellent staff and care of Maxville Manor where John spent his last years. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St Anthony's Church in Apple Hill at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2016 with lunch to follow. Visitation at the church from 10-11:30 a.m. Donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Cornwall Branch, Maxville Manor Foundation, Cornwall and District Alzheimer Society or to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements under the care & direction of the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 20 Main St. South, Maxville (613-527-2898).
