Finley, Arthur Ernest “Fin”
1945 ~ 2016
Finley, Arthur Ernest, known to most as “Fin”, at age 70, passed away Tuesday morning, April 26th in the comfort of his home in Acton, Ontario following a short battle with cancer.
Born on August 29th, 1945 in St. John, New Brunswick, he moved to Ontario as a youth where he would spend his time playing football and hockey, building the foundation of his future career as a 30+ year teacher and coach. Sports, rugby in particular, history, reading and teaching were his passions and he was, as his kids would say, a fountain of random knowledge. He was a great wit with a soft heart and kind eyes who will be dearly missed by his loving wife Joyce, son Greg Finley and wife Nada, daughter Kristin Birrell and husband Jeff, two little grandsons Jakob and Tomas Finley, sister Dora Lynn Lane and husband Rick and niece, Heather. Arthur will be missed by his many extended family and close friends.
As per Arthur’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
A celebration of Arthur's Life will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Acton Branch, #197, 15 Wright Street, Acton from 6:30 p.m till later evening. Speeches to begin around 7:30 p.m.
