Wayne Fletcher Obituary

FLETCHER, Wayne Harris –age 70, passed away unexpectedly on July 10, 2016 at home with his family by his side. Born in Deerfield, Yarmouth Co., N.S. he was the son of the late Frank and Evelyn (Haight) Fletcher. Wayne was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family dearly although sometimes he lovingly tormented them with nick names and other jokes and even the odd made up song left on his children’s answering machines. He worked in construction and heavy machinery for most of his life. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say he could literally move mountains. In his spare time he enjoyed hobby farming and raising cattle. He was also known to do body work, weld and was a jack of all trades. Despite having many hobbies his greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Anne (Grant) Fletcher; daughter, Rhonda Lee ( David) Fletcher-Smith, Ireton; sons, Larry (Jennifer) North Ohio Rd; Terry (Robin) Fletcher, North Ohio Rd; sisters, Linda (Richard) Thompson, Port Maitland; Muriel (Danny) Cook, Brenton; Lois Ann Fletcher, Yarmouth; grandchildren, Nicholas and Jamie Smith, Dylan and Jacob Fletcher, and Tristen and Chase Doucette. Besides his parents Wayne was predeceased by his sisters, Donna Williams and Dorothy Fletcher. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 2 p.m. from Sweenys Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bev Densmore officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Tri County V.O.N. A special thanks to Dr. Rahman and Dr. Moses and the V.O.N especially Robyn Pottie and Amanda Richardson. On-line condolences may be sent to: sweenysfh@eastlink.ca or you may sign the guestbook on-line at: www.sweenysfuneralhome.net
