CROWELL, Shirley Orpha - age 94 of Kemptville, NS passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Saviour on July 4, 2016 at the Yarmouth Health Centre. Born in Kemptville July 22, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Stella (Roberts) Crowell. Shirley was a member of the Faith Baptist Church. She enjoyed serving the Lord faithfully; she loved music, especially singing. At 42 years old she was widowed and raised her family overcoming many obstacles & managed to live independently in her own home until her death. She managed her own blueberry fields for several years, cooked at Oakhill Cabins hunting camp, helped families by looking after children when someone needed the help. She enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and attending many family gatherings. Loved to go to the Senior Day Program at the Kemptville United Baptist Church. Always talked about the friendship she shared there. She is survived by sons, Harold (Yvonne), Gerald (Linda) of Kemptville, David (Diane) of Deerfield; brother, Arthur Jr. (Gladys) Crowell of Kemptville; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Eugene Crowell; brothers Earl, Calvin, Eldon, Neil; sisters Clara Crowell & Vera Mood. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium , Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 6th, from 7-9 pm at the Kemptville United Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 7th at 2:30pm from the Kemptville United Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Warner officiating. Burial will take place at the East Kemptville Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the East Kemptville Cemetery, Yarmouth Food Bank or Charity of Choice.
