Helen Louise Pothier Obituary

POTHIER Helen Louise – age 73. It is with heavy hearts that we the family of Helen Pothier announce her passing on June 26th, 2016 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital holding the hand of her loving husband Ernest . Born in Yarmouth on February 9, 1943 she was the daughter of the late Charles and Isabel Sherman (Davis). In her early years she worked at the Yarmouth Hospital and Disco Food Mart and later as a prison matron at the old Yarmouth Co. jail and as the animal control officer (dog catcher) for the Town of Yarmouth. Helen was avid outdoors woman enjoying everything outdoors including playing softball and hunting and fishing in her early years and was an avid BINGO player up until her most recent illness. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Ernest ; son, Ernie ( Lorraine) Pothier; daughters, Susan ( Alan ) Clarke , and Mari Jo (Sandy ) Doucette; sisters, Betty Sherman (Ringer ), Hazel Sherman, Patsy ( John ) Blauvelt , Shirley Sherman ; brothers, Charles Sherman, Clyde ( Carol) Sherman , Richard , Ronald, Paul and William Sherman (Kayla); and grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeff Clarke, Cody and Jamie Pothier, Tyler Doucette, great grandchildren, Sophie and Nolan Clarke and Kasey and Sierra Pothier; as well as special lifelong friends Angela and Bruce Langford. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sister, Joan; and sister in law, Robin; and brother in law, Enos. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses of the 3rd and 4th floors of the Yarmouth Regional Hospital for her devoted care. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium in Yarmouth where cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral or visitation by her request. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Yarmouth Regional Hospital Foundation or charity of your choice.
