Helena Crouse Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Helena Maude Crouse, 84, of Centre, announces her passing on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Born in Bridgewater, Helena was the daughter of the late Donald and Ida (Leary) Fraser. Helena was a member of First South United Church, First South. Helena passed away peacefully at Harbour View Haven with her family at her side. She lived her adult life in Centre with her beloved husband "Johnny" and raised her two children. There was nothing she wouldn't do to support or assist her children. Prior to Johnny's passing, they spent many months every year at their camp at Lake Mush-a-Mush. As a couple they loved to dance and spent many Saturday nights on the dance floors around the area. Card games with friends and family resulted in many late hours and lots of laughter. Helena's laugh was infectious and you knew when she was nearby. Helena was a hard worker, and worked at the Lunenburg Foundry, Fisherman's Memorial and Bailey's Fuels Ltd to name a few. Her grandchildren recall many happy times with Nanny who loved their times together. She never refused an opportunity to be with them. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Harbour View Haven for their kindness and loving hands who walked with her through the most difficult days of her life. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Hennigar, Prospect Bay; son, Terry (Barb) Crouse, Oakhill; grandchildren, Jason and Jonathan; brother, Wayne (Janie Fraser), Upper LaHave; several brothers and sisters – in – law, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Helena was predeceased by her husband, John; an infant daughter, Suzette Venessa; son-in-law, Stephen Hennigar; sister, Grace Himmelman and brothers, Douglas, Raymond, Sinclair, Roderick, Keith and Truman. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, and where a funeral service to celebrate Helena’s life will be held Monday, October 31, 2016 at 1:00 p. m., Rev. G. Curtis MacDonald officiating. Interment will be in Sunny Valley Cemetery, Centre. In lieu of flowers memorial donations made to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter, Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
