It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Marguerite McAuley, 81, of Western Shore, announces her passing on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Gold River, she was a daughter of the late Parker and Ettie (DeMone) Haley. In her earlier years, Dorothy worked as a house cleaner for Dr. Barss and then went on to work for Riverport Seafoods and the Lunenburg Electric Co. She was a member of Trinity United Church, Rose Bay. She is survived by her daughters, Wendy Cook (Wendell Bond), East River; Jenny McAuley, Bridgewater; sons, Leo, Bayport; Terry, Western Shore; Willie (Nancy), Hickson, BC; Raymond (Darlyn), Quesnel, BC; Clayton, Quesnel, BC; sister, Carolyn (Winfred) Hatt, Gold River; brothers, Ross (Sylvia) Haley, Chester Basin; Sharon (Sheila) Haley, New Ross; Willis (Mae) Haley, Gold River; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, Allen St. Clair McAuley; children, Susan and Kenneth; brothers, Jim, Marshall and Bob; special friend, Oddvar Kaizer. Friends are invited to share their memories of Dorothy with her family during visitation on Friday from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg and from where a memorial service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held Saturday at 1:00 pm, Rev. Heather Ferrier officiating. Interment will be in Western Shore Cemetery, Western Shore. In lieu of flowers memorial donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
