George Caribou

George passed peacefully with family and friends by his bedside at his residence in Pukatawagan, Manitoba, Monday, June 19, 2016, at the age of 83 years. George was born Friday, January 13, 1933 in Pukatawagan Manitoba to Eli and Louisa Caribou. George worked for the CNR for 32 years and retired in 1989. He liked playing bingo and playing poker with his poker buddies. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing Romoli with his children. George is survived by his loving wife Marie Caribou (nee Daniels); children and grandchildren Elias Caribou and family, Gerald (Martina) Caribou and family, Ernest Caribou (Juliette) and family; Anne Caribou (Leonard) and family, Lorelei Caribou and family and baby girl Louisa and family. George is also survived by his cousins Angus Linklater and family, Cathy Linklater and family; grandchildren Tyson, Clifford, Nina, Jerry, Patrick (Tony), Jacinda, Chelsie, Lori, Trinity, Jewel, Horizon, August, Glory, Louisa, Rose, Curt, Tommy, Billy, Marvin (Joe), Jennifer, Hailey, Curtis, Mandy, Mary, William, Eli, Ella, Rebecca, Kyle, Clodimare, Andrew, Cordellia, Alishia, Gibson, Justine, Lynn, Seline, Alphonse Jr., Gina , Patrick; great grandchildren Elie, Anisha, Thion, Deandra, Tyrese, Freda, Tyrell, William, Ariel, Antonio, Athena Hart; great great grandchildren Zetta Caribou, Levon Dre Ballantyne and the twins; nephews Andy Daniels, Lloyd Daniels, Terry Daniels, Roy Daniels, Danny Daniels, Leonard Daniels; nieces Doreen Daniels, Mary Daniels, Emma Daniels. George was predeceased by his parents Elie and Louisa Caribou; brothers Jacob Caribou; son Fredrick Caribou; sister Lucille (Caribou) Sinclair; brother-in-law Eli Sinclair; niece Rose Bear; granddaughters Patricia Caribou, Freda Caribou; cousins Jeremy Caribou, Oliver Caribou. George’s grandmother was from Nisichawayasihk. Her name was “Kind-Heart Woman” (Jean) and she moved back to Nisichawayasihk when her husband Chachasis (George Caribou) passed on. She took her children Matthew Caribou and Mary Caribou to Nisichawayasihk with her. George leaves his adopted family from Nelson House adopted by late Joseph and Elsie Linklater of Nisichawayasihk, adopted brothers Darcy (Lorraine) Linklater and family, Terry (Diane) Linklater and family; sisters Sophia (Abraham) McDonald and family; Christine (Randy) Sawatsky and family. George was predeceased by his brothers and sisters Ralph (George) Linklater, Cornelius Linklater, Bella and Daniel Hart, Roger Linklater, Ronald Linklater.
