Denise Pfund Obituary

It is with profound sadness, that we announce the sudden passing of Denise, daughter, wife, mother, sister, daughter-in-law, aunt, and niece, Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at The Pas, Manitoba, at the age of 43 years. Denise was born in Sparwood, B.C., on Friday, March 2, 1973. She grew up in Winnipeg MB. Denise eventually moved to The Pas where she completed her high school graduating with honors from Margaret Barbour Collegiate, all while working at Husky Confectionery. Following her formal education, Denise was employed with Acklands, then Dean Cooley. During her years at Dean Cooley, Melanie Amelia was born on May 18, 2002. Denise was a doting new mother, who devoted her love and time to Melanie. Following her maternity leave, Denise went back to work for Acklands working as management. Subsequently after many years of service with Acklands, Denise ventured to The Pas Collision. In 2006, Denise welcomed her little man, Devin Nicholas on January 9th and also devoted her love and time to him. Up until her passing Denise was employed with the Nor-Man Regional Health Authority, as an Accounting Assistant, moving to Medical Services as an Administrative Assistant, a position she enjoyed and found very gratifying. Denise was very family oriented and enjoyed her trips to Winnipeg to see her family. She loved all holidays, her favorite being Christmas. She would participate in baking exchanges, and would get together with friends where a multitude of dainties were made to last way past New Year. She enjoyed hosting Christmas Eve for the family every year; making her infamous Eatmore Bars with everyone taking samples home. Recently she started a new Christmas Eve tradition, making fondue and stone cooking, which entailed a lot of work but she enjoyed every minute of it. Birthdays were also celebrated with a meal and a special dessert, a sundae bar for Melanie and a chocolate DQ cake for Devin. At harvest time, Denise also made countless meals for the men working in the fields. She was also a devoted hockey mom who put on countless miles chauffeuring kids to practices and tournaments. She also volunteered as Treasurer for The Pas Skating Club. Denise and Melanie would often be seen sipping specialty beverages at Lyet's while getting manicures and pedicures. Denise treasured her special dates with Melanie. Most recently going for a girls' weekend in Saskatoon to watch Keith Urban. Her most favorite singers were Jon Bon Jovi and Michael Bublé. She enjoyed her many summers with family and friends at Gyles Campground, where jumbo marshmallows and popcorn were enjoyed every night around the campfire. Her motto: “the more, the merrier”. Denise leaves to mourn her cherished memory, Guy; their children Melanie and Devin; mother Cathy (Jack); father Wally; sisters Suzanne (nephews, Donavan and Christopher) and Crystal (Bob and niece, Madison); brother Raymond (Tina and niece Kila); father and mother-in-law, Peter and Monique; brother-in-law André; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
