On October 22, 2016 Sophie Bateyko a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep two months short of her “101st “ birthday in Vegreville, formerly of Beauvallon. Sophie was predeceased by her husband, Sam; son, Ronald; daughter-in-law, Inez; parents, Panko and Mary Chudyk; sisters, Pearl, Nancy, Grace, Antonia, Annie, Nellie, Vera; one brother, Peter; and step-sister, Annie. Sophie is survived by her daughters, Lil (Andy) Dulaba and Iris (Lawrence Wasylycia); four grandchildren, Rhonda Bateyko (Glen), Shawna (Brian)Sharun,, Troy (Sonia) Yacie and Shane Yacie; four great-grandchildren, Christopher, Levi, Natasha and Cheyenne; and one great-great grandchild, Carter. Funeral service Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Vladimir, 5146-48 Avenue, Vegreville.
