It is with great sadness that the family of John Jacob Heck of Edmonton, AB announce his passing on Friday, September 16, 2016, at the age of 95 years. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 happy years, Jean; his children, Judi (Russell), Ken, Debora (Gary) and Donna (John); nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters, Florence (George), Marjorie and Frances. John was predeceased by his parents, Hieronymus and Anna Mary; his stepfather, Andrew; brothers, Anton, Frankie, John and Frank; and sister, Anna Mary. John was a proud veteran of World War II with the Canadian Armed Forces where he was stationed in London, England. Always a happy, smiling, kind and gentle man, he was devoted to his family. He loved umpiring and was an avid bowler and golfer. Thank you to the staff at Capital Care Kipnes Centre for Veterans for their excellent care and support these past two years. Memorial Mass Thursday, September 22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 12810 - 111 Avenue, Edmonton. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John Jacob Heck can be made to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation.
