Amber Nicole Smoak, 16, of Sweetwater, passed away, Monday, May 5, 2014 at her home due to a life long illness. She was a native of Orangeburg, South Carolina and former resident of Athens. She was a member of the Restoration Church in Riceville. She was preceded in death by two uncles, Timmy Kemmerlin and Billy Smoak and a cousin Britney Headden. She is survived by her mother, Cynthia Ferguson Gilbert of Sweetwater; father, Jeffrey Smoak of North, South Carolina; two brothers, Justin Smoak of N. Augusta, SC and Cole Gilbert of Sweetwater; maternal grandparents, Mike and Maxine Ferguson of Cope, SC; maternal grandmother, Dixie Crosby of Orangeburg, SC; paternal grandparents, Madelyn and Owen Smoak of North, SC, Charles and Terry Edgemon of Cope, SC; aunts and uncles, Scotty and Michelle Champy, Rodney Koon and Jamey Ferguson, Larry and Donna Arrowood, Danny Boltin and Rhonda, Robert and Patty Fulton, Mke and Nikki Smoak, 23 cousins, 2 very special caregivers, Chris Thomas and Liz Weinberg and honorary family members, Chuck Gilbert, Chase Gilbert, and Joyce Gilbert. A funeral service will be conducted, 7:00 pm, Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Restoration Church with Rev. Johnny Hope officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm at the church prior to the service. A second service will be conducted Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10:00 am at Thompson Funeral Home in Orangeburg, SC. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery in Orangeburg, SC. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 pm at Thompson Funeral Home in Orangeburg, SC. Pallbearers will be Doug O'Donnell, Scotty Bales, Chuck Gilbert, Mark Thomas, Danny Bolton, Scotty Champy, Rodney Koon and Larry Arrowood, Jr.
