Earle Pulsifer Obituary

Earle "Sonny" Pulsifer, Jr., 63 of Newcastle, passed away on the morning of November 11th with his children and companion, Patricia, by his side. Born in Boston, MA on September 2, 1950, he was the son of Dr. Earle and Barbara (Bailey) Pulsifer. Sonny grew up in Newcastle and attended local schools. After graduating from Kents Hill High School, he went to work for Hunt Brother's Lumber in Damariscotta. He worked for the company for over ten years, and became the the company purchaser at the time. He then worked various jobs for himself and others. He helped Dick Storer for several years, was self employed as a carpenter and seasonal cottage caretaker, and for many years worked at Chadwick's Power Products in Nobleboro. Even when he was young, Sonny loved having projects to tinker with, and was always available to help others with theirs. He loved being outdoors, and particularly enjoyed being on a boat or near the water. He enjoyed taking his children camping in North Conway, and teaching them to fish. In recent years, he wintered in Florida and enjoyed visiting Tennessee. In particular, he loved staying in Tennessee and enjoying Dollywood. He made friends wherever he went, and loved spending time with all of them. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Lee Anne Pulsifer in 1996. He is survived by his daughter, Lauri Pulsifer and her fiance, Nathan Lord of Round Pond; son, Jared Pulsifer and his fiance Kristina of Woolwich; stepson, Stephen Brackett and his fiancee Karen Etheridge of Round Pond; loving companion of many years, Patricia McElroy of Newcastle; sister, Judith Hunt and her husband Norman of Newcastle; and two granddaughters, Lee Anne and Norah Lord of Round Pond. Visiting hours were held on Sunday, November 17th at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street. A funeral was held on Monday, November 18th, also at the funeral home. He was laid to rest with his parents in the Hillside Cemetery in Damariscotta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lee Anne Pulsifer Memorial Scholarship Fund, 81 Academy Hill, Newcastle, ME 04553.
