Joy Nutter

Joy was born in Arkansas to Lester G. Dacus and Dixie E. (Atkins) Dacus. The family moved to Fernley Nevada when she was 2 and lived in Fernley for a number of years and then moved to Reno and went to school at Northside. She started High school the first year that Reno High opened in the 9th grade. She was on the bowling team at Reno High and was a very good bowler. She met her husband who was stationed at Stead Air Force Base and they fell in love. They were married in Virginia City on New Years Eve in 1953. They had a wonderful marriage for 59 years. Her husband retired from the Air Force in 1972 and they moved back to Reno. They decided to snow bird when he retired from Owen Distribution in 1999. Joy retired from Anthem BC/BS at the same time and they hit the road. They spent the winters in Arizona and the summers at Lake Almanor at Lake Haven Resort, those were their wonderful years. She is survived by her husband Robert L. Nutter, daughter Vickie L. Nutter, son Dana B. Nutter and his wife Carol L. Nutter, 6 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Joy was preceded in death by one daughter Cindy L. Nutter. Services will be held at Ross, Burke and Knobel Mortuary, 2155 Kietzke Lane, Monday, October 21st at Noon, a graveside service to follow at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Fernley, NV at 2:00PM. The family requests donations are sent to the American Lung Cancer Society instead of flowers.
