Dorothy Strzalkowski

Dorothy E. Strzalkowski nee Batho, 87, of Brick formerly of Jersey City passed away at home on Thursday, September 19, 2013 surrounded by the loving support of her family. Mrs. Strzalkowski was an assistant secretary at the Dixon Pencil Crucible in Jersey City. She also worked as the secretary to the president of Statewide Savings Bank in Jersey City and during World War II she was secretary to the Colonel at the Quarter Master Corp. She was a graduate of All Saints Commercial High School in Jersey City and served as chairwomen of the Jersey City YMCA Women’s Auxiliary. She was a former member of St. Paul’s RC Church and Our Lady of Mercy RC Church both in Jersey City. Dot was an avid reader, enjoyed jig saw puzzles, crocheting and was delighted in watching her 2 grandsons, Jason and Jack, grow up into fine young men. The family acknowledges and gives a special thanks to her daughter Vicky for her loving devotion and caregiving of her beloved mother. Mrs. Strzalkowski was born, raised and lived in Jersey City until moving to Brick 5 years ago. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Frances Batho and by her sister Irene. Surviving is her loving husband of 66 years, Edward Z. Strzalkowski; sons John Edward and his wife Janet of Brielle, Edward John and his wife Kathleen of Brick; daughters Victoria A. Strzalkowski of Brick, Sharon Loveland and her husband Kenneth of Maui, HI; and two grandsons Jason and Jack. Visiting will be on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday 11am at St. Peter Church in Point Pleasant. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Brielle.
