Stewart F. McCullouch

Stewart F. McCullouch - June 5, 1947 – July 10, 2013 Stewart F. McCullouch passed away July 10th, 2013 after suffering major head and brain trauma in a bicycling accident. He was born in Gouverneur, New York and graduated from Star Lake Central High School in 1966 and enlisted in the Air Force. He received an AeroSpace Engineering degree in 1976 and continued is career as an officer and worked with NASA with the Space Shuttle until he retired in 1986. He continued his second career for 10 years at Goddard Space Flight Center in Washington DC on DOD programs and then continued as a civilian contractor for an additional 10 years. In August 2007, he retired and moved to Tupper Lake with his wife Charlene A. Ferguson McCullouch. He was an active member of his community, church, the Mt. Arab Masonic Lodge. In retirement, he started a new “Journey” that took him on a path to improving his health. He lost over 130 pounds and as a result, became a dedicated Triathlon athlete. His goal was to complete the IronMan in Lake Placid this year and was training for it when he had his bike accident. He married the love of his life, Charlene, June 15, 1968 and has a daughter, Michele DJ McCullouch of Baltimore, Md and son, TSGT Jonathan Scott McCullouch who is currently deployed to Qatar in the Middle East. His legacy is living on through his son, Jonathan and wife Christina Kirks McCullouch and their adored children, Jonathan Scott McCullouch, Jr age 12 and Kaitlyn Josephine McCullouch, age 7. He also survived by his brother, Scott Kevin McCullouch and his wife Jeanne of Petersburg, Va and their children, TSgt Stewart F. McCullouch IV, and Chris Wicks of Virginia; and his sister, Suzanne Cheryl La Brake and husband, Carl of Colton, NY and their children, Brian LaBrake of Texas and Stephen LaBrake of Vermont. In addition, he is survived by several aunts and cousins. He is predeceased by his mother Dorothy Alexief McCullouch and father, Stewart F. McCullouch, Jr. The public is welcome to the viewing from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Monday, June 15th at Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 24 Cliff Ave, Tupper Lake, NY. In addition there will be a Masonic service conducted at 7-pm Monday, June 15th at the funeral home and a church service at 11am on Tuesday at the United Community church in Tupper Lake, NY. Everyone is then welcome to join the family at his home at 100 S. Little Wolf Rd for a Military Honor Guard service lakeside in lieu of a graveside service.
