Carl Melton

Mr. Carl Melton, 91, of Bono died Sunday, June 2, 2013 in Jonesboro. He was born May 27, 1922 in Pocahontas, the son of Jess and Addie (Hatfield) Melton. Mr. Melton spent many years as a farm laborer at George Kell Farms, and also worked for the City of Walnut Ridge. He was a member of the Revival Tabernacle in Bono. Mr. Melton enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing checkers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Magdalene (Sanders) Melton; one daughter, Regenia Ann Cagle; four brothers, Ralph Melton, Jack Melton, Darryl Melton, and Buck Anderson; and one sister, Annie Gilson. Mr. Melton is survived by two sons, Larry Melton and wife Paulette of Tuckerman and Carl Ray Melton of Swifton; one step-son, Dean Sanders and wife Nadine of Niceville, Florida; two daughters, Ulala Haines and husband Al of Bono and Gloria Ann Barnhill of Bald Knob; one sister, Erma Faye Goza of Newport; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren. Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Abiding Faith Pentecostal Church of God in Swifton. Interment will be in Stranger’s Home Cemetery. Those honored to be pallbearers are Jerry Lampkin, Jackie Haines, Taylor Lawson, Steven King, Robert Gilbert, and James Goza. Honorary pallbearer is Mark Haines.
