Harry Stanford Services for Harry Stanford, 89 of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Reggie Day and Bro. Mark Stanford officiating. Interment will follow in Creagleville Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline. Mr. Stanford passed away January 17, 2013 in Grand Saline. He was born October 23, 1923 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to John & Edith Stanford. He served as a Corporal in the US Army Air force in WWII. He was the Commander of the VFW Post 6635 in Grand Saline. His family describes him as the “#1 Dad” and “Cream of the Crop Father-in-law”. He spent most of his life in the Dallas area before moving to Grand Saline in 2000. Mr. Stanford was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Florence Stanford; son, Stanley Stanford; and brother, Harvey Stanford. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Mark & Christi Stanford of Grand Saline; brother, Robert Stanford of Compton, Arkansas; two sisters, Edie Bandy of Scoggins and Muriel Phelps of Compton, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Warren, Casey, Christy, Jack and Daniel; and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Warren Stanford, Danny LaPrade, Kevin Collard, Ronnie Brown, John Sinclair and Terry Tipps. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Buchanan, Horace Wilson, Fred Milligan, Michael Sinclair, L.C. "Junior" Curtis, James Humphries, Marshall Heddins and Tom Edgett. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
