In Loving Memory of Siiri Maria Kangas (nee Niemi) 98 years Thursday, January 10th, 2013 at Finlandia Koti. Beloved wife of Frank Kangas predeceased 1994. Loving mother of Richard (wife Leila predeceased) of Sudbury and Roger predeceased. Loving grandmother of Stacey, Stephanie, Andrea and Shannon. Dear daughter of Tyyne Niveri (Niemi) predeceased and stepfather Jalmar Niveri predeceased. Predeceased by her sisters Elma Maki and Annie Wrigley. Beloved aunt of Dr. John Maki (Louise), Helen Hobson, Carole and Reg Ralf, Niilo and Aileen Kangas. Born in Garson, Siiri married Frank in Copper Cliff in 1938. They owned and operated Frank’s Miners’ Supplies Store and Kangas Mens’ Wear for 37 years, retiring in 1978. She was a founding member of the Finnish Rest Home Society. Siiri served as treasurer of many Finnish Community groups, including St. Matthew’s Church, where she was a member of the sewing group as well. Siiri and Frank were very active in the Finnish community and a great help to many people who immigrated from Finland. Funeral Service in the Lougheed Funeral Home 252 Regent St. at Hazel St. Monday, January 14th, 2013 at 11:30am. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to Finlandia Village, St. Matthew’s Finnish Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. (Friends may call 2-4pm and 7-9pm Sunday or after 10:30am Monday.)
