Leon "Bud" Q. Moscou

Leon Q. "Bud" Moscou, 91, passed away on November 29, 2012 at his home in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born on March 30, 1921 to Max and Nadie (Farmer) Moscou, near Tolleson, AZ. His family moved into Phoenix soon after the market crash in 1929. He graduated from Adams grammar school and had one year of high school. His father died of an accident at work in 1934 and Bud had to work. He joined the Coast Guard in 1942 and spent 2 years in the South Pacific aboard the Hunter Liggett, seeing action at Guadalcanal and Bouganville. During his last few months in the Coast Guard, he met the first love of his life, Rita. They were soon married in February, 1945 and when he was discharged they settled in Albany, CA. Bud went to work for Standard Oil of California soon after and spent 37 work years with that company, the last 31 years at the El Segundo, CA. refinery. His last position was welding specialist. After retiring in 1982, he worked for 2 years with a contractor writing some of their procedures. In 1984 he flew with a welding buddy to Lake Havasu where he had visited his best friend. He found the house he liked and where he has spent the last 27 years. He married his second wife, Delores "Dee", on January 28, 1984 in Reno, NV. Bud enjoyed golf, bowling, boating, fishing, camping, poker with his buddies and Laughlin. He was past president of the Lake Havasu Campers, Havasu Mobile Estates Tract 1082 and the Desert Hills Community Association. He was also a member of the VFW. Bud is survived by his second wife, Dee Moscou of Desert Hills; son-in-law, Karry Jackson of Oklahoma; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; brother, Roy Moscou of California; four sisters, Annalee Volden and Marth (Goss) Dale both of Southern California, Barbara Potts of San Jose and Mildred of Bullhead City and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita, his mother and father, step-father, Jack Hayes, step son, William Grundman, daughter, Tamara Jenkins, 2 sisters and 1 brother. Visitation will be held at Lake Havasu Mortuary Chapel on Wednesday, December 05, 2012 from 3:00-4:00 PM. Funeral Service will follow at 4:00 PM with Father Leonard officiating. Graveside service will be held at Rose Hills Cemetery, in Whittier, CA. on Friday, December 07, 2012. The family gives a heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Havasu for their wonderful care of Bud for the past 3 years and to the caregivers at Lakeview Terrace for the 2 years and 10 months Bud spent there. We could not have handled his care without you.
