Norman Bennett Obituary

Norman E. Bennett, "Norm", 64, of Mt. Penn, and formerly of Scranton, and San Antonio, Texas, passed away unexpectedly, on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 in the Reading Hospital. He went to heaven to join his granddaughter, Ciaran Ashley Orehowsky. Norm was the husband of Sharyn (Tambone) Bennett. Born in San Antonio, he was the son of Lillian (Kozier) Bennett, San Antonio; and the late Harold Bennett. He was a graduate of Highlands High School, Texas. Norm was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a self-employed truck driver; contracted with West Motor Freight, Boyertown. Norm was a member of area game associations. He had a passion for his grandchildren; and would bend over backwards for his family. Norm enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and country music. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two sons: Mark Bennett, and his wife Maryann, Throop, Lackawanna Co.; and Sgt. Kevin P. Cannon, USMC, Reading; and four daughters: Brandey, wife of Kevin Nichols, San Antonio; Melissa Bennett, Throop; Kim (Tuturice), wife of David McGuire, West Chester; and Mary E. (Cannon), wife of Sgt. John Orehowsky, US Army, Coopersburg; sixteen grandchildren: Robert Jones, Becca Nichols, and Robbin Nichols, all of San Antonio; Markie Bennett, Emma Bennett, Julia Torrisi, and Justin Torrisi, all of Throop; Caitlinne Cannon, Cierra Orehowsky, Cyleah Orehowsky, and Coltyn Orehowsky, all of Coopersburg; Taryn Robbins and Domonick McGuire, West Chester; Autymn Cannon, Bethlehem; Shanai Cannon, Exeter; and Lindzey Cannon, Shallot, NC; and two great-grandchildren: Ryan Levi and Colton Wes. Norm is also survived by his brother: Frank Bennett, San Antonio. A Comfortable Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday at 6:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg (off street parking in rear). A visitation with the family will be held on Sunday 4:00 to 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg, PA 19526 to assist the family with final expenses.
