Jacob "Jack" Nagrod, 84, Clarksville, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Gateway Medical Center. A celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2012 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Pastor Harold Witmer officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and from 12 noon until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home. Jack was born June 9, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY and was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Lillian Lederman Nagrod. He retired form the US Air Force in 1975 after serving 30 years. He is a veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. His last assignment was at Fort Campbell, Kentucky from 1969 to his time of retirement. He was the Special Agent in charge of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. Upon retirement he was hired as the Director of the Criminal Justice Complex. After serving as Director for ten years he served seven years with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department and retired from Montgomery County Government in 1992. On September 1, 1998 he was sworn in as an elected Montgomery County Commissioner, District 10, and re-elected in 2002 for another 4 year term. He was a trustee on the Clarksville-Montgomery County Library Board, Chairman of the County Building Advisory Committee, member of the County Beer Board, Chairman of the Veterans Services Committee, Conservation Board, Building and Codes Committee, Senior Citizens Board, and was elected as Chairperson Pro tempore. He is a former member of the Board of Zoning Appeals, Montgomery County Nursing Home, Ajax Turner Senior Center, E-911 Emergency Communications District Board, and the Tennessee Rehabilitation Center, Clarksville. After the January 22, 1999 tornado he was appointed to serve on the Courthouse Restoration Advisory Council. Mr. Nagrod was a past President of the former local chapter of the American Federation of Police, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of the American Legion, the Tennessee Sheriff's Association, and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and appointed a Colonel Aide de Camp by the Governor of Tennessee. He attended the Catholic Chapel at Fort Campbell, KY and The Clarksville Community Church where he served as a deacon. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Helen Nagrod, his Wild Irish Rose; three daughters, Patricia (Richard) Buchanan, Joanne (Stephen) Bryant and Jacqueline (Kevin) Trimble; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present employees of Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and Larry W. Bryant, former director of E-911. The family would like to express a heartfelt "Thank You" to the ICU staff of Gateway Medical Center for their professionalism and dedication to the outstanding care of their husband and father.
