Miss Jasmine Veneruzzo Thunder Bay, Ontario Obituary

Miss Jasmine Veneruzzo

There are no words to express the great sadness and loss of our beautiful daughter, Jasmine Marie Veneruzzo, age 18, who was tragically taken from us on December 3, 2008. She was a very active, passionate person who was so full of life and energy and lived life fully every moment. No words can express how much she is loved and missed. We miss her beautiful smile, sparkling eyes, her laughter and the light, love and energy she shared with us which lit up our lives. She was a very special, loving person that reached out and touched the hearts of everyone she met. Jasmine started gymnastics and soccer at age 6. She was very passionate about gymnastics. As the years went on, she moved into competitive gymnastics and was chosen to go into Provincials. She continued gymnastics throughout high school which led her to get involved in grade 9 competitive cheerleading. This past year, they came in First across Ontario winning the Provincial Championship. Jasmine volunteered at TBRHSC on a weekly basis and volunteered teaching gymnastics to children. While doing all of this and attending school, she also worked part-time at Kentucky Fried Chicken on Arthur Street. She attended St. Martin‘s school from JK to grade 6, and grade 7 and 8 at Sacred Heart school graduating from St. Patrick‘s High School in June 2008. She just applied to the University of Calgary to attend the Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree Program. Her plan was to go on to medical school to become a Pediatrician. Jasmine will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her mother Brenda, father Louis, sister Jennifer (Brad Mercier) and brother Jason (Carolynn Strbavy) and Jasmine‘s boyfriend, Doug Downey. She will be missed very much by both her grandmothers, Veronica Daniels and Maria Veneruzzo and her uncles and aunts, Eldon and Jeanette Oja, Brian and Sharon Daniels, Wayne and Debbie Daniels, David Daniels, Rob and Jennifer Daniels, Bruno Veneruzzo, Rita and Angelo Maronese, Jennie Veneruzzo, Dan and Laurie Veneruzzo, and Frank Veneruzzo (Terry Illson), along with great uncles and aunts Tony Veneruzzo, and Gulio and Carla Veneruzzo. Cousins Curtis (Bonnie) Oja, Conrad (Kelly) Oja, Cathy Oja, Shana (Carlos) Hajen, Sarah (Scott) Lehman, Teri (Scott) Loewen, Christopher Daniels, Amanda Daniels, Jonathan Daniels, Nicky Maronese, Matthew Maronese, Walter (Linda) Veneruzzo, Ava Veneruzzo and many other cousins and numerous relatives. Jasmine was predeceased by her grandfathers John Daniels and John Veneruzzo, and her cousin Kayla Oja. An evening gathering for family and friends will be held at Wesfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2008. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Jasmine‘s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at St. Patrick‘s Cathedral, 211 Archibald Street celebrated by Father P.M. Stilla, v.g., and Father Ciaran Donnelly. If family and friends desire, memorial donations made in Jasmine‘s memory to the Awards Trust Fund c/o Thunder Bay Catholic School Board would be greatly appreciated. IF TEARS COULD BUILD A STAIRWAY If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane. We would walk right up to heaven, and bring you back again. No farewell words were spoken, no time to say good-bye. You were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why. Our hearts still ache with sadness, and secret tears still flow. What it meant to love you, the world will never know. But now we know you want us, to mourn for you no more. To remember all the happy times, life still has much in store. Since you‘ll never be forgotten, We swear to you today. A beautiful place within our hearts is where you will always stay.
