It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Kay (Kathleen) Taylor (nee Gonyou) on Sunday, July 22, 2007 at TBRHSC with her immediate family by her side. Kay was born in Fort William on November 24, 1944 and raised in Upsala, Ontario. As a young girl she was very talented, she played the guitar and sang in different bands where she toured across Canada and the United States. Kay started, owned and operated her own businesses, Kay’s Sport and Gift Shop and Kay’s Trailer Park in Upsala. Kay will be sadly missed by her husband of 29 years, Cecil Taylor of Upsala and her loving daughter Kaitlyn Taylor of Calgary; stepson Ty Taylor of Dryden and three stepdaughters Dawn (Allan) Wiseman of Kincardine, Susan (Scott) Taylor of Winnipeg, and Janette (John) Gavel of Stratton and families. Her sister Carolyn Connell of Thunder Bay and brothers Melvin (Mary) Gonyou of Upsala, Glenn (Mary) Gonyou of Calgary, AB and several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Phylis (Less) Lee of Parksville, Evie (Bob) Cosman of Ottawa, and families; grandmother Georgina Davis of Thunder Bay; uncle John Davis of Upsala and aunts Frances Zawerucha and family of Ignace, Georgina (Victor) Dmitriew of Ottawa, Isabelle (Steve) Zysko of Thunder Bay, Audrey (Les) Randall of Thunder Bay and many other relatives and family members also survive. Kay was predeceased by her infant daughter Laurie-Kay, parents Dorothy and Howard Gonyou, brother Jack Gonyou and stepson Bradley Taylor. Cremation has taken place and a Service of Remembrance will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at the Upsala Community Centre with Rev. Jann Sampson officiating. Interment will follow in Upsala Cemetery. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the George Jeffrey Childrens' Treatment Centre or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James. Kay’s family would like to extend many thanks to all health care professionals in IMCU at TBRHSC for their loving care.
