Blacksburg -- Kathy Ross Putnam, 65, of 202 West Clairborne Street, passed away Sunday, November 20th, 2011, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. Born in Gaffney, Mrs. Putnam was the wife of Harold Putnam of the home and the daughter of the late Ben Anderson and Norma Aileen Cowart Ross. Mrs. Putnam retired from teaching at Blacksburg Primary school after 26 years. She was a member of the Blacksburg Women's Club, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Blacksburg Beautification Committee, and she was a member of the Blacksburg A.R.P. Church. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Putnam is survived by four sisters, Bennie Ross of Gaffney, Patti Major of Blacksburg, Jeanne Davis of Gaffney, and Susie McAbee of Kingstree. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 23rd, at 1:00pm at Blacksburg A.R.P. Church with Rev. David Rowe and Rev. Larry Sanders officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Jerry Parker, Cecil Bell, David Hogue, Michael Davis, Nicholas Major, and Steve Short will serve as pallbearers. John Major, Wayne Davis, and Terry White will serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Blacksburg A.R.P. Church, 108 South Chester Street, Blacksburg, SC 29702. The family will be at the residence. The Book of Memories is available at www.gordonmortuary.com.
