Obituary for Russell Sanford
It is with shock and great sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved Russ at the age of 52. Russ was the son of Red Sanford and Louise Sanford Sluss, father of Caroline, Shane and Savannah Sanford, partner to Liz Morgan, former husband to Jeanne Sanford who brought her beautiful girls, Noelle and Hailey, into Russ's life, former husband of Katherine Sanford, brother to Kristy (Chris) Das, stepson to Cathy Sanford and Jack Sluss, stepbrother to Mark Sluss, Ryan Arnold and Kay McConnell, and "Uncle Russ" to the many nieces and nephews in this loving family. Russ was an instant friend to everyone he met. He was a connector of people and took a genuine interest in everyone who came into his life. Everyone who met him recognized that he had "something special". Russ was an avid fisherman, tennis player, golfer, jokester, lover, hockey fan, football enthusiast, life of the party, reader of 1000s of books (mostly in the bathtub, where he could relax for hours), the "master of ceremonies" wherever he went. Russ would walk into any party and immediately have a crowd of people around him, laughing at the jokes he always kept handy in his brilliant mind. His greatest joy was to be with his children, the loves of his life.Russ's college days started at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. His brothers in the Sigma Chi fraternity remained some of his closest friends throughout his life. Russ was a skilled attorney, and when he ventured into the area of real estate development, he found another passion, and threw himself into it completely. This special man will be missed more than can possibly be expressed here. He was respected and loved by most, and will never be forgotten by anyone.A celebration of Russ's life will be held on Sunday, August 29th at 4:00pm at First Presbyterian Church, 531 So. College. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the "Children of Russ Sanford Fund" in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W. Drake Rd., Fort Collins, CO 80525. We love you and will miss you dearly, Russ.Say hi to Mom and Dad, and be at peace now.
