Rev. Russell Oldham, 81, formerly of Clarksville, died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Huntsville Hospital. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Clarksville with Dr. Roger Freeman and Rev. Bill Morris officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church. Rev. Oldham was a graduate of Murray State University with a B.S. in Music Education and a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a M.R.E. in Religious Education. He was a retired Baptist minister who served in Florida, Arkansas, Texas, and Tennessee. He was a charter member of the Metro Religious Education Association of the Southern Baptist Convention and served multiple times as President. Rev. Oldham was also an active member of the Clarksville Rotary Club and served as President. His hobbies included working on cars, gardening, was an avid woodworker, and loved golf. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Oldham in 2001. Survivors include one daughter, Jana O. Clark, and her husband Chuck, of Hampton Cove, AL; one son, Jim Oldham, and his wife Jan, of Dallas, TX; sisters, Barbara Sue Tichenor, and her husband Perry, of Bowling Green, KY, Netta Lea Harris, and her husband Robert, of Owensboro, KY; and grandchildren Rusty, Eric, and Amanda Clark and Madison and Jameson Oldham. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The First Baptist Church Building Fund, 600 Governor's Drive, Huntsville, AL 35801 or First Baptist Church of Clarksville, 435 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN 37040.
