Roy Guthrie, a current resident of Rochelle, Illinois, and former resident of Vanndale, Arkansas, departed this life, Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Franklin Grove Nursing Center in Franklin Grove, Illinois at the age of ninety-eight. He was born February 11, 1911, in Cherry Valley, Arkansas, the son of Lee and Jayne Lee Wilson Guthrie. Mr. Guthrie was of the Baptist faith and worked as a farmer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Betty Mae Watson Guthrie, one brother: Willie Guthrie, two sisters: Dolly Guthrie and Annie Guthrie, one granddaughter: Constance Moore. Roy is survived by: three grandchildren: Donald Moore of Knoxville, Tennessee, Terry Moore of Rochelle, Illinois and Machelle Terry of Rochelle, Illinois.
