Orlando “Landy” Zweimiller, 92, of Manhattan, KS, formerly of Gardner, KS passed away Feb. 25, 2011 at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community, Manhattan, KS. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Wed., March 2, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 W Main, Gardner, KS. Burial follows at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. Landy was born Sept. 26, 1918 in Kansas City, Kansas to Leo and Estella Richey Zweimiller. He grew up in the Lansing/Wolcott area and attended Lansing High School. Landy married Anna Marie Schneider on Nov. 15, 1939 in Basehor, KS. He served in the Navy during WWII. Landy was a groundman for KCP&L for 30 years, retiring in 1982. He moved to the Gardner area in 1960. Landy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Golden Age, Gardner American Legion, and AARP. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, gardening, hunting and fishing. Landy enjoyed raising and working with Black Angus cattle.
Landy was preceded in death by his wife in 2006, parents, daughter Arlinda Marie Cummings, two sisters and four brothers. He is survived by his son Lannie and wife Penny Zweimiller, St. George, KS.; sisters Anna Seichepine, Gardner, KS and Edythe Davis, Bedford, VA; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
