Mr. Columbus Lionel Radford 80, of Union Mills died on Saturday May 9, 2009 at the Hospice House in Forest City. He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late John William and Lola Yelton Radford. He attended Cool Springs High School and played baseball from 1949-1950 with the original Forest City Owls. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and was retired from Textiles. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Baynard Radford of Union Mills, Two daughters Dawn Radford Jones of Fredericksburg MD, and Lynn Radford Bryant of Shiloh. One sister Modene Carswell 0f Kempner TX. Five Grandchildren and Six Great Grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:30 to 8 PM at Crowe’s Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 PM at Crowe’s Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Koone and Rev. Barry Gouge officiating. Burial will be in Round Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
