Richard Wagner

Richard Laffayette Wagner passed away on September 2, 2007 at United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus. He was born in Eagle Bend, MN, on April 3, 1915, and was the son of the late Richard L. and Marguritte (Lamont) Wagner. Richard married Elizabeth Clara Babel on October 31, 1934, in Bismarck, ND. They were married for 62 years. She preceded him in death on November 12, 1995. Richard served in the U.S. Army in 1945 during World War II as Private in Company C 9th Armored Division. He was awarded the Expert Marksmanship as a Sub Machine Gunner. Richard retired from the Wisconsin Gas Company, Racine, WI, in 1981, after eighteen years. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He is survived by five daughters, Betty (Hollis) Nichols, Colorado Springs, CO, and Bonnie (Rev.Grady) Nichols, Midge (Jim) Oliver, Darlene Nietupski, and Christy "Janie" (Gary) Hinz, all of Kenosha; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandson; four sisters, Primrose Friese, Lorraine Pletcher, Delores Pletcher and Florabell Wright, all of Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Shirkey Biggs, Tom Cassidy, Stanley Wagner, Roscoe Correll, and Floyd Wagner; and two sisters, Segius Patterson and Marguritte Naydihor. Funeral services for Richard will be held on Wednesday, September 5th, at the Proko Funeral Home at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment with full military honors will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
