Leona Thomas, age 88 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life Thursday, June 2, 2016, at NHC Healthcare of Cookeville. Mrs.Thomas was born Thursday, December 29, 1927 in Baxter, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Mary (Herron) Henley. She was a loving Sister, Aunt, and like a Mother to all of her Nieces and Nephews. She was a member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ and loved going to church. She loved and cared for everyone she knew. She enjoyed quilting, loved talking about history with people, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She is survived by: 1 Sister and Brother-in-law: Ruby and Leslie Cole of Cookeville, TN 7 Nieces: Joan Lafever, Sue Neal, Kay McTasney, Janet Thompson, Patsy Williams, Joyce Herron, June Herron 4 Nephews: Coy Herron, Darrell Cole, Cameron Cole, Ed Henley In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her Husband: Arlin Thomas, 1 Sister: Barbara Herron, 4 Brothers: Warren Henley, Ward Henley, Mack Henley, and Bill Henley, 1 Niece: Helen Petty, 3 Nephews: Billy Herron, Alfred Herron, and Greg Cole. Funeral services for Mrs. Thomas will be held Saturday June 4, 2016 beginning at 11:00 AM with Bro. Johnny Fox officiating. Interment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral Home Friday June 3, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again on Saturday June 4, from 9:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am.
